Vienna Housing Market Report 2006/2008

In the early 1990ies SRZ launched a series of extensive housing demand investigations in Austria ("SENSOR"). Between 2003 and 2005 SRZ published an annual collection of experts' commentaries on the Austrian housing markets ("Housing Market Barometer"). In 2006 this product had been developed into a comprehensive housing monitoring system, the "Housing Market Report", consisting of three modules of research and analysis, which also structure the 2008 Report:

  • expertises on regional housing market development (following the "Housing Market Barometers")
  • countrywide housing demand survey, investigating housing situations, housing change, and actual housing demand
  • analyses of socio-economic statistics on regional gross product, labour force, income, household expenditures, and regional housing production and modernisation

Generally, the report is based on data collected throughout Austria in the spring of 2008. They can be analysed on national, provincial and regional level. The Vienna Housing Market Report 2008 is, of course, based on the Vienna province data and includes the comparison with the overall statistics. It describes and analyses general and housing economy aspects, housing needs and its determinants. It also contrasts housing demand and supply on various segments of the housing market. Additionally, the market development is commented by housing market experts who were asked to do so in extensive interviews.
